Alan Richard “Butch” Alvord, 70, of Kimball Township, died Monday, February 4, 2013.

He was born May 4, 1942 in Port Huron to the late Dwain and Mearl Alvord.

Mr. Alvord was a welder and a member of the Pipe Fitters Union. He enjoyed hunting, watching softball, playing chess, Texas Hold’em and watching the birds in the backyard. In his younger years he was active with rodeo especially bull riding. He served in the U. S Army during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; four children, Beth and Anne Marie Hayes, Mark (Angela) Hayes, and Dwain Alvord; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his sister, Sharon (Jack) Brown; brother-in-law, Robert (Viria) Walls; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Debbie (Gabriel) DiPippa; step daughter, Amy Shillander; and several stepchildren in Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Gayle McFarlane.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. The Reverend Douglas Studaker will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. To send condolences, visit pollockrandallfuneralhome.com.
