A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, at Scottsburg Community Church for Elmer Edwin Shipp, of Wells Creek, formerly of Scottsburg, who died May 31 of age-related causes at age 87.

He was born Jan. 2, 1919, in Brown's Park, Colo., to George and Bessie Bradshaw Shipp. He married Vera Saxton on June 14, 1938, in Greeley, Colo. She died Dec. 31, 2005.

Shipp worked for Pacific Power & Light in Coos Bay and Coquille for 35 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Marjorie Rodgers; a son, Jim; two sisters, Estella Hill of Burns and Ruby Eagen of Newport; three brothers, Claude of Springfield, Curtis of Coos Bay and Kenneth of Burns; five grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Dunes Memorial Chapel in Reedsport. A potluck lunch will follow the memorial service at noon Monday at the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Scottsburg Cemetery.
