Alexander A. C. Kohr, aged 69 years, of First Lock, was found dead in bed early yesterday morning by his son John. Mr. Kohr had been in ill health for the past two years but death came suddenly some time during the night.
Mr. Kohr was born Jan. 16, 1852, in the old Kohr homestead at First Lock, now occupied by his brother William Kohr, Sr. He learned the trade of mill worker at the planing mill of Kendig & Lauman, when the mill was started on Mill Street many years ago. For quite a number of years, up until the time the business was discontinued, he was its foreman. Later he was employeed as foreman in planing mills in Millersburg, Lebanon, Steelton and Harrisburg. The last position he held and which he had to give up on account of ill health was as a carpenter at the State Capitol, Harrisburg. Shortly after the death of Mrs. Kohr in September 1919, he retired and lived at First Lock.
He is survived by three sons, Thomas, Alexander, Jr. of town and John E. at home; two daughters, Mrs. Roy Sheppard, Harrisburg and Mrs. Charles Meinsler, First Lock; one brother, William Kohr, Sr., at First Lock, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Rife, Royalton; twenty grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
