Catherine ("Kitty") Arp Waterman, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died April 21, 2015, at Naples Community Hospital, Naples, Florida, following a sudden illness.Kitty was born July 12, 1929, to Dr. A. Henry Arp and Elsa Mauritzson Arp in Moline, Illinois. She was a graduate of St. Katharine's School and Sweet Briar College. She worked for several years in New York City and St. Louis, before marrying Robert ("Bob") V.P. Waterman on September 5, 1953. She was a loving wife and the proud mother and grandmother of six children and 14 grandchildren, whom she supported wholeheartedly throughout her life. She never missed their sporting events, recitals, award ceremonies, or school functions. She lived for family trips, reunions, and celebrations. She and Bob loved spending time with and entertaining their large extended family and many friends. Kitty regularly accompanied Bob to professional law conferences, where they made lasting friendships. Kitty also enjoyed Bridge, golf, tennis, gardening, and the symphony. In her later years, she read to the blind. Her community activities included past president, Tri-City Garden Club, and past board member, Quad-City Symphony Orchestra Association and The Outing Club, and member of The Tuesday Club, Junior League of the Quad Cities, and Alter Guild at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. She also was a member of Crow Valley Golf Club, Bettendorf, Iowa, and Hole-in-the-Wall Golf Club, Naples, Florida.Survivors include her six children, Catherine M. Waterman of Annapolis, Md., Robert V. P. Waterman, Jr. (Kim) of Bettendorf, Thomas D. Waterman (Maria) of Pleasant Valley, Elisabeth "Libbet" Waterman McKeon (Robert) of Red Hook, N.Y., James L. Waterman (Jessa) of Frisco, Texas, and Julia T. Waterman (Craig) of Washington, D.C.; and 14 grandchildren, David, Michael, Lee, Dana, Drew, Morgan, Isabella, Natalie, Kate, Jonathan, Matthew, Alexandra, Regan and Clayton; a sister Sue von Maur (Dick), and brother David. She was preceded in death by an infant son, brother Hank, and husband of 50 years, Bob.
