Helen M. Groh, age 89, a resident of Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc died Saturday afternoon , April 25, 2015.
She was born on November 4, 1925 in Osman, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Thomas and Ella (Schneider) Knox. Helen graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1942. On October 7, 1950, she married James W. Groh at St. Isidore Catholic Church, Osman. Helen was a long time city employee in the city clerk's office, retiring in January of 1989. After retiring, she became an active volunteer at the Holy Family Memorial Medical Center gift shop. She also volunteered as a poll worker for many years.
Survivors include her husband: Jim Groh, Manitowoc; two daughters: Susan Groh and Mary Ellen Groh, both of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; and one sister-in-law Delores Knox, Manitowoc. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Helen was preceded in death by one sister: Kathryn Graykowski and two brothers: Adrian and Richard Knox.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. David Pleier with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, May 1, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
