Mrs. Marjorie Elinor Wilson, 91, formerly of Woodsboro, MD, and more recently a 17-year resident of Carmel Place, Charlotte, NC, passed in her sleep on January 16, 2014, at Mecklenburg Health Care Center.

Born in Red Creek, NY on July 13, 1922, 'Marge' was the first child of Clarence Dates & Cora Richardson Dates and graduated from Red Creek High School. She was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Welch, and a brother, Robert Dates, and is survived by a sister, Marilyn Pasley of Midland, VA.

Marge's husband of 56 years, Rev. Gordon Wilson, passed on Easter Sunday, 1999. They were married March 3, 1943, in Red Creek, NY. Marge is survived by a son, Ted Wilson & wife, Sally of Finksburg, MD, and a daughter, Wendy Linger & husband, Ernie of Charlotte, NC.

Marge's son and daughter gave her a family of 6 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Ted's son Tim (& Julia) with Andrew and Katherine; daughter Kate (& Shaun) with Ethan and Olivia. Wendy's daughter Kami (& Adam) with Dallas, Riley and Waylen; daughter Marni (& Ron) with Cameron and Caleb; son Graham with Jacob; son Jordan (& Beth) with Claire. Marge also had many cousins, nieces & nephews, and in-laws far and wide.

Marge supported her husband's Methodist ministry for decades and together they ran an antique shop and a gift shop in Woodsboro, MD and gift shops in Fort Mill, SC and Charlotte, NC.

Always the caring and giving person, Marge, as did her husband, bequeathed her body to Wake Forest School of Medicine for medical science. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at Carmel Place, 5512 Carmel Road, Charlotte, with Rev. Josh Sherfey, Pastor of First United Methodist, Taylorsville, NC, officiating. Interment of ashes will be in early 2015 at Pleasant Valley United Methodist, Smithsburg, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607; or to Living Saviour Lutheran Church, 6817 Carmel Rd., Charlotte, NC 28226.
