Sara M. Palmer, 71, of New Freeport R.D. 1, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, following a long illness.
She was born January 31, 1912, in the Morrisville section of Franklin Township, a daughter of Henry and Plessie Pitcock Morris.
In 1928 she married J. H. "Cotton" Palmer, who died June 18, 1969.
Mrs. Palmer was a housewife and lived most of her life in the Jollytown area.
She was a member of the Jollytown United Methodist Church, was active in church affairs and a trustee of the church, and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
For 20 years she had served as judge of elections for Gilmore Township.
Mrs. Palmer was also a volunteer for the Greene County Unit of the American Cancer Society and had been a local correspondent for the Democrat Messenger.
Surviving are one stepson, John Hagan Palmer Jr., of Casa Grande, Ariz.; one step-grandson, John Hagan Palmer III, also of Casa Grande; two step-great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
One sister, Florence Scholz, and one brother, Jack Morris, are deceased.
