The fourth child of nine, and second son, of Roy Stanley and Pearl Cilles Goin Adams, Roy Lindell Adams (known by most as Lindell) was my Dad. He and Mom, Martha Rachel "Sue" Polivick Adams were married December 22, 1946. Mom preceded him in death on May 5, 2001, just over two months earlier.

He was survived by his sister Lucille Teeters and four brothers, Jesse Dalton Adams (1928 - 2001), Eugene Chalmer Adams (1930 - 2003), Aldon Wilson Adams, Joe Allen Adams and six children - three daughters and three sons: Linda Diane (Terry) Wilde, Donna Jean Gibson, Roy (Reda) Adams, Sharon Sue (William) Meador, Daniel Alan (Donna) Adams and Donald Paul (LaDonda) Adams.

Also surviving were fifteen grandchildren: Lori Jeanne (Robert) Tiepelman, Diana Lynn Cross (1967 - 2009), Terry P. Wilde, Jr., Christina Sue Stricklin (now Brooksher), Kelly Marie Mayfield (now Acosta), Kenneth Andrew Gibson, Penelope Jean (Brian) Gerst, Roy Douglas Adams, Angela Sue Martin, Leah Nicole Martin, Matthew Alan Adams, Jeffrey Adams, Donald Paul Adams II, Alan Thomas Adams and Jesse Morgan Adams. One granddaughter, Abbigale Lynn Adams has been added since his passing. He also had eight great-grandchildren. Since then there have been nine great-grandchildren added and one great-great-grandson. There have also been several marriages adding to the family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his sister Kay Hughes and his brother James Malcolm Adams

He was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Elder Kenneth E. Gibson (1945 - 2000), beloved pastor of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Caseyville, IL.

After serving his country in World War II with the 2000th Aviation Fire Fighter Platoon, stationed in London, England, Dad returned to Carlisle County, met and married Mom on December 22, 1946. They moved to Detroit, MI in 1947 where I, the first of six children, was born in December. He took a job at the Dodge Main plant in Hamtramck. In 1958 during a recession, he was laid off. He and Mom moved with their three children back to Kentucky where he worked at whatever job he could to support his family. He was working at the Deena Lighting plant when he was called back to work, transferring to the new Chrysler plant in Fenton, MO in the fall of 1959. The rest of us joined him in nearby Valley Park January 2, 1960. The last three of six children were born while living in Valley Park. He also served as deacon at Springdale Baptist Church in Fenton, MO.

I have so many great memories as a child in Detroit. Dad would take us walking in the nearby park and point out the birds, trees and the squirrels jumping from tree to tree. In the summer we went to Windsor, Canada where there was a lake. I remember crossing over in a tunnel with my Uncle Bailey at the wheel.

Dad truly enjoyed life and lived it well until God called him home. He was a Godly man and through his testimony, like his father's before, his children came to know the Lord.

God truly blessed us with wonderful parents.

"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."
Psalms 1:1-3 KJV
