Herald Coaster, September 22, 1960:

Adolph Klahn, 84, of East Bernard, passed away at 6:21 p.m. Saturday in the Schuhmann Hospital. He was a native of New Ulm, Austin County, and came to East Bernard in 1912 from near Bellville. He was a retired farmer.

Included among his survivors are daughters, Mrs. O.W. Koym, East Bernard, Miss Adela Klahn, Houston, Miss Anna Klahn, Houston, Mrs. B.L. Behrens, Beasley, Mrs. R.W. Egger, Wallis, Mrs. J.P. Webb, Rosenberg; sister, Mrs. E.H. Sonsel, Bellville; step-brother, H.E. Schmidt, Houston; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday from the Methodist Church, East Bernard, Rev. J.P. Adair officiating. Pallbearers: R.W. Egger Jr., Henry Sonsel, F.A. Klahn, H. Earle Lumpkin, Larry Egger, Lewis Gardner. Arrangements under the direction of Garmany & Company Funeral Directors.
