VANCOUVER, Wash. — Two young women out to celebrate a birthday were killed early Sunday when their car collided with a vehicle going the wrong way on State Route 14 near downtown Vancouver.
The Washington State Patrol identified the victims as Jessica Hannah Blanck and Kristyne Elizabeth Shaddix, both 21 and from Camas, just east of Vancouver.
Blanck was the daughter of a Portland, Ore., police officer. The two were out to celebrate Shaddix’s birthday.
Their car was hit by a minivan driven by 37-year-old Theresa M. Nickelby, of Vancouver, who was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of the highway when the accident occurred at 2:55 a.m., the patrol said
