Harriet Elva Quantius was born on January 23, 1885 in Montello, Wisconsin to John & Mary Ellen Quantius. Harriet went by her middle name Elva and she married William H. Baumbach in Ashland, Wisconsin in 1906. Elva & William had seven children and lived in the Ashland area for many years. After William's passing in 1933, Elva moved out west to California and was living with her daughter, Anna Katharine (Kay) Baumbach Kumm in Long Beach, California. On July 15, 1964 while traveling with her daughter Kay and daughter-in-law Ann Baumbach (wife of Elva's son John Baumbach) they were in an auto accident in New Mexico. They were returning from a road trip back to Wisconsin for Ann's school reunion in Ashland. Elva and her daughter-in-law Ann Baumbach were killed and daughter Kay survived.
