Daniel Bean, 81, died Wednesday, August 3, 1994, at his residence. Born on July 19, 1913, in Ilion, he was the son of Daniel F. and Katherine Hartford Bean. He married Flora Welden on February 13, 1942, in Ilion. Mr. Bean was a graduate of Ilion High School, class of 1931. He was a graduate of New York State Vocational Training in Utica. He taught at Proctor High School in Utica at one time. He was a tool designer at Remington-Rand in Ilion, before retiring. Mr. Bean and his wife owned and operated the Sleepy Hollow Cottages on Canadarago Lake for over 18 years. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the United States Army. Mr. Bean was a charter and life member of Chapter #78 Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the American Legion Richfield Springs Post, the Disabled American Veterans, the Herkimer County Retired Teachers Association, and the New York State Retired Teachers Association.

Surviving besides his wife, Flora, are several cousins.Funeral services will be held 9 a.m., Saturday, from the Gray Funeral Home, 24 Willett St., Fort Plain, with the Rev. Thomas Vail officiating. Interment will be made in Fort Plain Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday. Contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 34 W. Fulton St., Gloversville, NY 12078. Arrangements are under the direction of James F. Matus, Director.
