Survived by his wife, Freda, his daughter, three brothers and three grandchildren. His parents were Roy and Clola Hopper.

Judge Hopper served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After 22 years in the newspaper circulation department for the Tulsa World and the Tulsa Tribune, he obtained his law degree from the University of Tulsa at age 39. He worked as an assistant district attorney and later as a Tulsa County district judge for 19 years.
