The former Celia Merbach, she was born Nov. 26, 1912 at Kaukauna, a daughter of the late John and Lydia Ristow Merbach. On Nov. 22, 1932 she married Arthur Plate at Woodville. He died Feb. 22, 1974.
The couple farmed near Sherwood for three years until moving to R. 1, Hilbert.
Mrs. Plate was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hilbert, and its Ladies Aid Society.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Harland (Vanice) Wunrow of R. 1, Hilbert; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ralph Timm of R. 1, Menasha, Mrs. Leonard Harder of Hilbert and Mrs. Ruth Plate, Brillion, and one brother, Harry Merbach, Kaukauna. She was preceded in death by one sister.
Funeral services were held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hilbert, with the Rev. C. A. Rathjen, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Highland Memorial Cemetery, Appleton.
