Frank A. Abbate, decorated WWII Navy Veteran, Engineer, Teacher, Luthier, and inventer of Valley Stream, NY, passed peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2015 at his home with his son at his side.

Born February 25, 1925 in NYC, he was predeceased by his wife Helen, and his friend Corina Berke.

He is survived by his beloved son Frank and wife Merill, grandchildren Carolyn and Daniel, great-grandchildren Walter, Adriana, Ailada and Stanley, sisters Bernadette & Maria, brother Benaldo, god-children, nieces, nephews and families.

A plank-owner engineer in USS Mt. McKinley, promoted thrice in one yr, in 5 major battles, earning US & Philippine Presidential Unit Citations, Purple Heart, gold crow & hashmarks, others.

Sailor of the Year 3rd Naval District 1962, as Crash Chief at USNAS NY, completed Naval Service 1973 as Chief Petty Officer.

Later retired from City of New York, and was instructor for International Union of Operating Engineers.

An Inventor, he held US Patent 2,979,758 for a hose pressure calculator. A luthier, he constructed many classical & flamenco guitars.

Visitation Thurs. 7-9 pm and Fri. 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Krauss Funeral Home in NY.

Funeral Mass Sat, 10:00 am St. Boniface Church in Elmont, New York.

Interment in Arlington National Cemetery.
