Harry D. Sutter, age 87 of Winfield, died Friday August 2, 2013 at Sunrise Terrace Care Center. The son of Otto and Kathryn (Wenger) Suter, was born December 13, 1925 at Crawfordsville.
On September 15, 1946 he married Lorraine Schlatter at Wayland. He was a graduate of the Crawfordsville High School. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a life member of the Crawfordsville American Legion and was past commander. He was Iowa State checker Champion for many, many times. He was of the Methodist Family. Mr. Suter was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his wife of Winfield, two sons Jeff Suter of Winfield and Mike Suter of Jamestown, New York; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one sister Joyce Huff of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather-Glen Anderson, one son and one sister.
Cremation has been accorded. The family met with friends Tuesday, August 6th from 5-7pm. at the Honts Funeral Home in Winfield. A memorial service was held Wednesday, August 7th at the United Church of Crawfordsville, with Pastor Jason Collier officiating.
Memorials have been established for Sunrise Terrace Care Center and the United Church.
