George E. (Sonny) Crawford, Jr., 70, of West Brownsville, Pa., died Saturday, December 3, 2005, in his home with his loving family at his side.
He was the son of Dorothy Wooldridge Crawford of Fairmont, W.Va. and the late George E. Crawford, Sr.
He belonged to the Brownsville Lion's Club and was past District Governor of District 14M.
George was a 100% D.G. of Excellence award. Melvin Jones Fellow and received a leadership award. He was past Post Commander of VFW Post 4, West Brownsville, Pa. and a member of the American Legion Post 940, West Brownsville.
He owned and operated Crawford Produce Company for 25 years.
He retired from the Brownsville Post Office as a rural mail carrier.
George was involved as a Scout Leader with the Boys Scouts of America and had Vigil Honor and Order of the Arrow.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Jean Lambert Crawford.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Betsy Shriver Crawford; six children: Jonathan A. Crawford of Navarre, Fla., Billie M. Crawford of Reston, Va., Dr. Vickie Anderson and husband, Gordon of Dunbar, Georgetta Staley and husband, Richard of West Brownsville, Terrie Jean Elkins and husband, Troy of Waynesburg; a stepdaughter, Dawn Renee Crawford and friend Colleen Schmidt of Uniontown; seven grandchildren: Sun Schroyer, Chuckey, Tyler and Serena Anderson, Joshua Crawford, Ian Elkins and Richard Staley; four great grandchildren; a brother, Ernest J. Crawford, Sr. of West Brownsville; and a sister, Darlene Morgan of Fairmont, W. Va.
He is predeceased by a brother, Donald P. Crawford and a grandson, Jacob Anderson.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Thomas officiating.
Interment will be in Green Valley Cemetery, Swartz, Pa.
