Joe Lee Richard, age 85 of Beaumont, Texas died Thursday, April 30, 2015.

A native and lifelong resident of the area, he was born on December 23, 1929 in Nederland to Eva LeJune and Joe Cleve Richard.

Joe was a United States Army veteran and had retired from Central Freight Line as a truck driver. He was a life member of VFW in Port Neches, Texas. Joe was a member of the Boy Scouts and Cajun Club. He loved football and baseball.

Survivors include his loving wife, Norma Richard, his daughter, Elizabeth Hamaker and her husband, David. his son, Cleve Adam Richard, grandchildren, Anthony Joseph Harvey and Bianca Kirkland and great-grandchildren, Aidan Kirkland and Liam Kirkland, all of Beauxart Gardens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Beatrice Junot, his brothers, Ambrose, Ivy, Raymond and Reese Richard.

A gathering of Mr. Richard’s family and friends will be from 6pm until 9pm with a rosary recited at 6pm Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street in Nederland, Texas.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Monday, May 4, 2015 at Saint Charles Catholic Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue in Nederland.

Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.
