SULLIVAN--Gene Scully, 86, of Sullivan, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at his residence. He was born in Paxton on July 13, 1928, to Eddie Scully Sr. and Mildred Jeffords Scully.
Gene was a 1946 graduate of Sullivan High School, was a Navy veteran and was employed by the Operating Engineers Local #841. He was a member of the Sullivan American Legion Post 139, and a member of the Sullivan Elks #911 and St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Mary Scully, of 63 years; [married Mary Land April 14, 1951] a brother, Eddie Scully Jr.; a sister, Mary Catherine Ferguson; and a grandson, Blaine Scully.
Survivors include his sons, David (Doris) Scully of Spencer, Ind., and Dan Scully of Vincennes; a brother, Stan Scully of Sullivan; a sister, Shirley Landis of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Jessie, Sean, Mike and Ryan Scully; and a great-grandchild, Lennon Scully.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015, in Homes Memorial Chapel, with Fr. Frank Renner officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery. Military services will be given by the Hymera, Shelburn and Sullivan American Legion and Sullivan VFW.
