Kathleen Corbett Hernandez, age 64, was called by our Savior to her eternal home on Thursday, April 30, 2015.

Born in Biloxi, Mississippi, Kathleen was the second child of Frank William Corbett (Lt. Col., USAF) and Rubye Elizabeth Corbett. She was joyfully united in Holy matrimony with Antonio "Tony" Hernandez on June 13, 1998.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Howard Charles, and her sister Suzanne Elizabeth. She was also preceded in death by her parents-in-law Paul and Christina Hernandez, her brothers-in-law Thomas and Victor Hernandez, and her sister-in-law Josie Hernandez Sustaita; aunt Janie Rosales.

She is survived by her beloved husband, her godmother Patty Casares, her son John Eric and grandson Harley, her brothers Frank William and Thomas Franklin, her sister Cynthia Ann, her aunt Nellie Jo Moore of Alabama, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Margarito Hernandez, John Albert Hernandez, Reynaldo "Nano" Montoya, and Freddie Sustaita; her sister-in-law Julia Rosas; and her aunt Mary Alcala.

Kathleen had the privilege of living in France for five years where she attended the Paris American School in Garches and enjoyed exploring the history and culture of Europe. She later traveled to Italy with her husband to visit Rome, Florence, and Pompeii. Together, they also sailed to Alaska, Canada and the Bay of Fundy, most of the Caribbean Islands, Mexico, Belize, and other interesting destinations.

She graduated summa cum laude from St. Edwards University in Austin in 1992, and she was proud to be employed by the Texas Commission for the Blind for twenty eight years. In her local community she completed on term on the Bastrop County grand jury, served as a precint chair for two terms, and supported several state and county organizations. She was the first secretary for the 969 Volunteer Fire Company (now a function of Bluebonnet VFD), attended the fire fighters school at Texas A&M, and assisted as a volunteer firefighter for several years. Additionally, she co-founded Groups United Against Rural Destruction (GUARD) with her husband and served as president and chairperson of the association for eight years.

Rosary will be recited at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel (South). Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Santa Julia Catholic Church 3010 Lyons Road Austin, Texas 78702 with Father Chris Ferrer officiating and Father Bradford Hernandez Arriaga will serve as co-celebrant. Rite of interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
