Georg Chmela was born January 20, 1878 in Ctvrtek, Slovakia to Teresia (nee Dujnic) & Martin Chmela. He imigrated to the US and took up farming. At age 30, he married Anna Biksacki, age 16, also from Slovakia, in the Borough of Manhattan, a neighborhood in New York, NY on May 24, 1908. They lived on a farm and had six children together, a son and 5 daughters. Sadly, he died young at age 42, after only 12 years of marriage, leaving Anna to raise their 6 young children.
