Born in Curwensville, a son of Vincent and Julie Carfley Alessandro. He married Helen Hurd, who survives him.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. He earned his Ph.D. in Education from Penn State. He was a former principal of the Pine Grove Mills Elementary School. He worked as a consultant on some World Bank and U.S. Agency for International Development projects.
Along with his wife, he is survived by a son, Kent Thomas Alessandro; and by nieces and nephews.
