Mrs. Audrey Jean Scoggins Young age 53, of Fairmount, Georgia, departed this life Sunday morning May 3, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Audrey was born June 26, 1961 in Fairmount, Georgia, a daughter of the late Glenn Alton and Syble Reathel Cochran Scoggins. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Scoggins, cousin, Teddy Scoggins and her father-in-law, Chuck Young. Audrey was a 1979 graduate of Fairmount High School. She earned a six year specialist degree in education from Piedmont College and was a first grade teacher at Fairmount Elementary School. She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Rydal, Georgia.
Audrey loved Fairmount, loved teaching and loved her students. She was involved in anything going on at Fairmount School. But the true love of her life was her family. She was always ready and willing the help others.
She is survived by the love of her life, BoBo Young and would have celebrated their thirty-sixth wedding anniversary, December 1, 2015; sons and daughter-in-law, Brandon Young, Kyle and Marisa Young all of Fairmount; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Sandra Scoggins of Calhoun, GA, Travis and Judy Scoggins of Rydal, GA, Carl Scoggins and Iris McKinney of Ranger, GA; mother-in-law, Louise Young of Pine Log, GA; sister-in-law, Pat Young of Cartersville, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Audrey Jean Scoggins Young will be held Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Oak Hill Baptist Church (Hwy. 140, Rydal, GA) at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Leroy Kelly officiating. She will lie-in-state at the church two hours prior to the service. She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery with Reverend Reggie Temples officiating. Mike Scoggins, Vaughn Kelly, Wes Crook, Alton Scoggins, Craig Scoggins, Andy Nelson, Dylan Kelly and Kyle Hendley will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be, Roger Moss, Jeff Cornwell, Alan Morris, Kyle McReynolds, Gary Waters, Nick Price, Richard Townsend, Bill Cochran, Kenneth Hayes, Bradley Mealer, Alan Amos, Dustin Scoggins and the administration and fellow teachers at Fairmount Elementary School.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Fairmount Chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
