Nina Beatrice Christenson, 96, of Renner passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls where she had been a resident for four and a half years. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Renner Lutheran Church, Renner. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM Friday at the church, with the family present from 5-7:00 PM. Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery, rural Baltic. Memorials may be directed to Renner Lutheran Church.
Nina was born December 3, 1917 to Henry and Winnie (Krull) Jurgens at Chancellor, South Dakota. She attended grade and high school in Chancellor. On September 28, 1940, she married Bill Christenson at First Lutheran in Sioux Falls. They made their home in Renner all their married life. Bill passed away on September 9, 1985.

Nina was a stay at home mother, sewing for everyone on her trusty Singer treadle machine. She made countless wedding and bridesmaids dresses and was known as the “sewing lady of Renner”.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Wade) Peterson, Renner; son, Mark Christenson, Sioux Falls; daughter in law, Sue Christenson, Cody, Wyoming; her grandchildren: Bill (Sherry) Peterson, Julie (Chad) Erickson, Jay (Carmela) Peterson, Lance (Lori) Christenson, and Leah Christenson; eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Luverne Jurgens, Parker; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; son, Alfred Christenson; four brothers, Harry, Willie, Bert, and Lawrence; and two sisters: Mayona Anderson, and Viola Borgen
