Born July 20, 1911, in Oconee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Macie Lee Sanders Cox and the wife of the late William R. Nix.
Retired from the SC School for the Deaf and Blind, she was a member of Hayne Baptist Church where she was a former member of the WMU and the oldest living member of the Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Nix Reed of Spartanburg; two half-sisters, Alice Cox Moore of Six Mile, and Frances Cox Cleary of College Park, MD; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Charles Franklin Nix.
Visitation was 11:00-11:45 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2006, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
Funeral services followed at 12:00 noon at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. John Lynch. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to Hayne Baptist Church, 7319 Valley Falls Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
