Flight Officer Lux was the pilot of B-17G Flying Fortress #42-31948, serving with the 329th Combat Crew Training Squadron from Alexandria Army Airfield, Louisiana.

He was killed in a mid air collision and crash of his four-motored heavy bomber, nine miles northeast of the airfield.
