He was born on September 6, 1919 in the town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, son of the late Verne and Loretta (McCarthy) Johnson. Ray was a graduate of Valders High School, Class of 1937. He worked on the family farm for a number of years and then at the Manitowoc Engineering Company for 30 years, retiring in 1983. Ray enjoyed golfing and bowling and also searching for items for people.
Survivors include two nieces: Julie (Craig) Clemens, Lake Forest, IL., Cathy Siragusa, Lake Forest, IL; and a cousin: Karen (Harold) Berry, Vermont. Other relatives and friends also survive.
He was also preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law: James and Harriett Johnson and a sister: LaVerne Johnson.
Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc.
Ray will be laid to rest at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc, at a later date.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home & All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family.
