A longtime resident of Pleasant Mills, Lowell B. Noll, 89, died at 2:20 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2006, at Adams Memorial Hospital, Decatur.
Mr. Noll retired in 1979 with 40 years of service at the Central Soya plant where he was a quality control inspector and supervisor.
A U.S. Army veteran with service during World War II, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post #43. He was a member of Pleasant Mills Baptist Church, Decatur Moose #1311, Limberlost Legion of the Moose and he was a charter member of the Pleasant Mills Lions Club.
Born in Decatur on Feb. 10, 1917, he was a son of William M. and Aletha F. (Roop) Noll.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Mankey; four daughters, Carol L. Coffield and Mrs. Kenneth (Marlene A.) Straub, both of Monroe, and Mrs. Jerry (Susan E.) Douglas and Mrs. Marvin (Debra K.) Double, both of Decatur; three sons, Roger R. Noll of Fort Wayne, John M. Noll of Decatur and Duane M. Noll of Ohio City, Ohio; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Robert (Sharlene) Royer of Moneta, Va., Mrs. Dale (Marlene) Mankey of Canada, Sandra Myer of North Judson and Mrs. Terry (Becky) Fishbaugh of Markle; two stepsons, Leroy Mankey of Markle and Gordon Mankey of Bluffton; four sisters, Mrs. Glen (Maxine) Gephart of Cedar Lake, Betty Goddard of Muskegon, Mich., Mrs. Jon (Thelma) Alexander of Fort Wayne and Marilyn Price of Decatur; 11 grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Neva L. Riley on March 7, 1986; his second wife, Lucille E. (Kelley) Wagner on Dec. 18, 1997; a son; a daughter; six sisters; four brothers; and a grandson.
