Renee Hillner Sherman died peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011. Born in Chicago, on Sept. 9, 1927, to James and Bessie Hillner, Renee was the younger sister to Dolores Levin and older sister to Herbert Hillner. Her husband of more than 59 years, Leon Sherman; her son Steven Sherman; and her daughter-in-law Ruth Sherman, survive her.
Renee was dedicated to helping people in need – family members, friends, neighbors and throughout her career, working many years in providing outpatient and home-care services at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, several other hospitals both in Chicago and Houston, and spent 12 years as a social worker supporting senior adults at Jewish Family Service of Houston until her retirement in 1992.
Services were held at Emanu El Memorial Park on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011.
