Reverend Harold L. Barnett, 88, passed away at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, May 7th at his home in Atlanta Indiana. He was born on August 16, 1926 on a farm near Vallonia, Indiana to Irvin and ArMinta (Crockett) Barnett. He graduated from Shields High School in 1944 and received his BA from Kentucky Christian College in 1952. Harold also completed the requirements for a BD degree from Butler University. He married Flavia Hoene on Feb. 24, 1956. They had two children: Kim Greathouse and Eric Barnett.

Rev. Barnett served various churches in southern Indiana, held revivals in Ohio and Kentucky and taught on the faculty of Louisville Bible College. He complete his 62 years of ministry by pastoring the Atlanta Christian Church in Atlanta, Indiana from 1982 – 2012. He retired from full time ministry in March 2012. During his tenure as an ordained Minister, Rev. Barnett preached a total of 9.011 sermons, officiated at 630 weddings, and conducted 1,086 funerals.

Rev. Barnett is survived by his daughter Kim Greathouse and his son Eric Barnett. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 4 brothers and 1 granddaughter.

Friends may call on Monday 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Atlanta Christian Church followed by his memorial service on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Joseph (Jody) Brown will be officiating. He will be interred at the Riverview Cemetery in Seymour, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Atlanta Christian Church, P.O. Box 187, Atlanta, IN 46031. There will also be calling from 1:30 until the time of service at 2:30 p.m. at the Riverview Cemetery Tuesday.
