John Bottoms was the owner of J&B Shooter’s Mart and Gun Range which he operated at his home in the Temperance Hall Community of Edgecombe County NC. On Wednesday September 5, 1984 he was fatally shot 5 times by Terry W. Smith in a possible robbery attempt. During the incident his wife Dorothy Bottoms was shot and survived the incident.
