He was former owner and operator of Newton Feed Store and was recently elected as Newton County Judge.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Boyett of Newton, children, Wade Boyett of Kirbyville, Texas and Tina Boyett Easley and husband, Brad of Hemphill, Texas, brother, Charlie Grover Boyett of Newton, sisters, Emma Alta Cooper of Lewisville, Texas, Dorothy Dawson of Littleton, Colorado, Jimmie Ruth Brown of Houston, Reba Gertrude Griffin of Pflugerville, Texas, Wanda Mae Wood of Houston, Betty Ann White of Houston, Joyce Marie Horn of Dayton, Texas and Peggy Sue Bazarth of Crockett, Texas, grandchildren, Justin Conn, Michael Boyett, Christian Boyett and Emily Boyett and great grandson, Tuff Conn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Lillian Patterson Boyett and brothers, James Boyett and Melvin Boyett.
Visitation will be on Monday from 5pm until 9pm at Smith Funeral Home in Newton.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 2pm at the First Baptist Church in Newton, Texas.
Burial to follow at the Burkeville Cemetery.
