Rutledge Lady Is Laid To Rest Sat.
Mrs. Martha Twait, aged resident of the Rutledge community for the past 26 years, passed away at the home of her son, Joseph, in Rutledge last week Wednesday. She suffered a stroke the week before which was the direct cause of her death. Martha Johnson was born at Rowe, Ill., November 13, 1858.
She was united in marriage to James Twait August 7, 1878. The family lived in Livingston county, Illinois, until 1900 and then lived at Radcliffe, Iowa and Elmore, Minn., before they came to Rutledge in 1916. Mr. Twait died on April 4, 1935.
She is survived by two children: (Elsie) Mrs. Sam Amundson of Bricelyn and Joseph Twait of Rutledge; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, besides one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were held at the Bible church in Rutledge last Saturday at 2 o clock, Rev. Arthur G. Dalke officiating. She was a member of the St. John s Lutheran church at Finlayson. The pall-bearers were Ernst Belling, Geo. Nelson, Joe Drahosh, Ed Carlson, Chas. Peterson and John Rebine. Interment was made in the Rutledge Cemetery.
