Steven Leo Reggio was the second son of Stephen Alphonse Reggio and Louise Bridget Golden Reggio. His father initially named him Reginald, but his mother disliked the name, so when he was baptized ten weeks later, his name was changed to Steven.

During his Freshman year at Rutgers University, he was a member of the Army Reserve Corps. In April 1943, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was only 19 years old, so his mother had to sign for him. He was stationed at Parris Island, Beaufort, South Carolina; Pensacola, Escambia, Florida; and Cherry Point, Craven, North Carolina. He served as an aireal photographer in Peleliu, Palau Island, in the Pacific. He returned in 1945 to Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville, Onslow, North Carolina, and subsequently resided in New Haven, Connecticut, where he took courses at Yale University. He returned to Camp Lejeune for a short period and was Honorably Discharged at Great Lakes, Lake, Illinois, in April 1946.

Following his father's death in 1941 and the end of World War II, Steven joined his older brother, Eugene Augustus Reggio, in taking over their father's food brokerage firm, the Steve A. Reggio Company in Manhattan. He often traveled to Europe and the Middle East to visit his business contacts. He managed the company after his brother's death in 1970 until his retirement.

On 14 Jan 1950, Steven was united in marriage to Jeanne Elizabeth Ward at Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Chicago, Cook, Illinois.

In August 1955, he and his wife and children moved to Matamoras, Pike, Pennsylvania from Ridgewood, Bergen, New Jersey.

Steven and his wife raised eight children together.

He was a member of Saint Joseph's R.C. Church in Matamoras, Pennsylvania.

Steven enjoyed stamp collecting, photography, gardening, murder mysteries and cigars. He sang in the church choir and the community barber shop quartet. He was a gourmet cook.

Following a prayer service at Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Reverend John J. Turi at Saint Joseph's R.C. Church, Matamoras, Pennsylvania. Burial was in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Port Jervis, Orange, New York.
