Mr. Jarka served with the U.S. Air Force and Air Force Reserves for 27 years. He was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Marseilles lock and dam until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post 235.
He is survived by his wife, Dorthy Jarka; by a daughter, Christine (Kent) Johnson of Montgomery; by three sons, Steven Jarka and Kevin Jarka, both of Marseilles and Tim (Dawn) Jarka of Surgar Grove; by seven grandchildren, Erik Johnson, Ashley Johnson, Adam Johnson, Jesse Jarka, Sara Jarka, Zachary Jarka, and Madeline Jarka; and by a brother, Jerry (Sherry) Jarka of Richardson, Tex.
A brother, Stanley Jarka Jr., and two sisters, Elaine Balika and Patricia Weekly, died previously.
