Charles Lloyd Allen, Sr., 67, of Fort Myers, died Monday, May 20, 2002, at his home. Born in Iowa, he served in the U.S. Army and eventually moved to Fort Myers in the early 1960's, where he worked for Intercounty Telephone and United Telephone for several years before entering into the construction industry. He and his wife the late, Gerri (Sanders) Allen were also foster parents for over 35 years, and cared for over 30 children, adopting two. He also spent several years coaching youth baseball and football.

He is survived by his sons, Charles L. Allen, Jr., Tony Cotillo, Daniel Allen and Marcus Allen, daughters Penny Fessler and Sherolyn Daniels, four sisters, one brother and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for family and close friends at his home on Saturday, May 25, at 2:00 p.m.
