Andrew E. Dobson served in Company H. 369th U.S. Infantry Regt. 93rd Division in World War One.

When Andrew registered for the draft in 1917 he was residing in Anadarko, OK. where he was working for the Caddo County board of education as a teacher.

Andrew enlisted on Oct 26, 1917 in the 15th New York National Guard, which became the famous "Harlem Hellfighters", the 369th U.S. Infantry. They served six months at the front with 90 days in the front line trenches. The French government awarded 171 Croix de Guerre medals to men of the regiment for bravery in action. He was Honorably Discharged on Jan 26, 1919. He also received the U.S. Purple Heart Medal for being wounded in action.

Andrew married Mildred Griffin and on April 4, 1927 they had a daughter Elizabeth Virginia known as Bettye.

In the 1940 census of Maywood, IL. Andrew is listed as a 44 year old Dentist born in Arkansas, residing with his wife Mildred G. age 42, a School Teacher born in Iowa, their daughter Elizabeth "Bettye" age 13 born in Illinois and his father-in-law Alex Griffin age 91 born in Iowa.

When Andrew died, he was buried at Lincoln Cemetery in Blue Island, IL. and a government headstone was shipped there in 1953 to mark his grave as a veteran.
