Reichard, Norman H.

Norman H. Reichard, age 92, a resident of the Gardens at Felician Village, Manitowoc, died early Friday morning, May 15, 2015 at the Village. He was born on February 24, 1923 in Manitowoc, son of the late Robert and Hattie (Wegner) Reichard.

Norman was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1940. In 1942, Norm enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and served as a Captain in the 530th Fighter Squadron in the China, Burma and India Theater. He flew over 70 combat missions and received his honorable discharge in 1946. Upon returning home, he entered the University of Wisconsin - Madison where he earned his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. On November 18, 1950 he married the former Carol Wilke at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He then continued his education earning his CPA Certification. After his graduation from the University of Wisconsin - Madison, Norm was employed for 2 years with the Wisconsin Department of Taxation in Appleton. He then joined the Harold Kugler CPA firm in Manitowoc. After Harold's death, he and Arthur Orvis formed a partnership which later became known as Reichard, Whitney, Kroening and Stangel CPA firm. Norman served on the Board of Education for St. Andrew Catholic School, Roncalli High School and the Diocese of Green Bay. He was a lector and communion distributor at St. Andrew Parish and served on the Endowment Committee for the Manitowoc Area Catholic System. Norm served for 19 years on the Board of Directors at Manitowoc Public Utilities and also served on the Board of Directors at Shady Lane Nursing Home. He was a member of the Serra Club and was a member of the local Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife: Carol Reichard, Manitowoc; two sons and a daughter-in-law: James and Frances (Timberlake) Reichard, Charlotte, N.C., Jeffrey Reichard, Manitowoc; one daughter and son-in-law: Sue and John Rohrer, Manitowoc; five grandchildren: Joshua Reichard, Charles Reichard, Gabriel Reichard, Rose Rohrer and Justin Bendell, Emily Rohrer; and two brothers-in-law: Richard Wilke and Gerald Hansen, both of Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Anne (Kornely) Reichard; four brothers: Edgar, Robert (Verone), Clarence and Paul; two sisters: Wynona and Esther; and two sisters-in-law: Delores Hansen and Mary Jane Wilke.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Blessed Angela Chapel of St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Foley.

The family will greet relatives and friends at Blessed Angela Chapel of St. Mary's Home, Manitowoc, from 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2015 until 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials would be appreciated to Roncalli High School or the donor's choice.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home & All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.The family would like to thank the staff at Holy Family Memorial's Critical Care Unit, the clinic at Felician Village and especially the staff at Next Step at Felician Village for their excellent care.
