Mrs. Dill was the state's first speech pathologist, serving in the Department of Education and later the Lake Forest School District for over 30 years. In her later years she was a substitute teacher at Shields Elementary School in Lewes. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Carmella (Petruzzi) Mainiero, and was born and raised in Hazelton, Pa.
She survived nine brothers, including Leonard Jr., Anthony, Joseph, Michael, Albert, Patrick and Alfred. She was a graduate of Bloomsburg University.
Mrs. Dill was a member of the Delaware Speech and Hearing Association, the Council for Exceptional Children, Beebe Hospital Auxiliary, the Lewes Red Hatters, Women On Their Own, Bethel United Methodist Church and the Elizabeth Circle.
Mrs. Dill is survived by daughters Gloria, Nancy and Jacqueline; grandchildren John Christian, Alexandra, Jordan, Adam and Katharine; great-grandchildren Alexis and Estelle; many nieces and nephews; and grand-dog Bentley.
A celebration of her life will be held at Bethel UMC in Lewes Tuesday, June 2 at 1 p.m. All are welcome to attend and share. A scholarship has been established in her name for a student from Kent/Sussex County who will be attending Bloomsburg University.
