Rita D. Berning, age 89, of St. Michael passed away on Tuesday, May 5th, 2015 at her residence.
She was born in Long Lake on June 6, 1925 the daughter of George & Christine Goeb Schmitz.
Rita was a former bookkeeper at The Co-op and Dick’s Beverage. Through the years, she made many wedding dresses and bridesmaid’s gowns too.
Rita was an avid bowler and traveled all over The United States attending bowling tournaments.
She was a faithful member of The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael.
Survived by loving husband: Vernon J. Berning; a son: Tom (Jackie Gilmore) Berning of Pelican Rapids; grandchildren: Natalie Berning & Jacob (Melissa Moore) Berning; other relatives and many friends.
Preceded in death by her parents: George & Christine Goeb Schmitz.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Rita Berning will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 9th at The Church of St. Michael in St. Michael. Interment will follow at the St. Michael Cemetery.
A visitation will be held AT THE CHURCH Saturday, May 9th one hour prior to Mass.
