Alice Joy Johnson Short, a retired teacher, died Tuesday in North Richland Hills after a brief illness. She was 76.
Funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Short was born in Rankin and lived in Fort Worth most of her life.
She received a bachelor's degree from Texas Wesleyan University and a master's from Texas Christian University.
She completed graduate studies at Northwestern University and the University of North Texas.
She taught in public schools and gave private music lessons for 40 years.
Mrs. Short was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, American Association of University Women, Woman's Club of Fort Worth, Business and Professional Women's Club and Retired Teachers' Associations. She was the widow of Asa Short.
They were married for 42 years.
Survivors: Son, Jim Short of Fort Worth; daughter, Jan Brown of Bay City; stepson, John Short of Los Angeles; sister, Marjorie E. Lee of Fort Worth; and one grandson.
