Cary Elizabeth Mattox, 17, of Bluffton, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at the Medical University of South Carolina.
She was born Jan. 5, 1989, on Hilton Head Island, daughter of Michael W. and Robin Calvert Mattox.
She was a rising senior at Bluffton High School who served on the yearbook staff and enjoyed photography. She also was a member of Bluffton United Methodist Church and a community baby sitter.
She is survived by her parents, both of Bluffton; a brother, Julian M. Mattox of Bluffton; a paternal grandfather, William C. "Bill" Mattox of Bluffton; a maternal grandfather, Claude W. Calvert of Panacea, Fla.; two uncles, Calvin M. and Billy Calvert, both of Bluffton; and an aunt, Leslie Mattox of Bluffton.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Bluffton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton.
