Muncie-William “Bill” L. Conner, 82, passed away Sunday morning, May 17, 2015, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on, October 21, 1932, in Muncie, the son of William H. and Eliza (Arnold) Conner.
Bill is a 1951 graduate of Selma High School and eventually married the love of his life Marilyn (Tetrick) Conner on September 18, 1955 and she survives. Immediately, following high school, Mr. Conner proudly served the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He would go on to take training as an Electrician and had worked for the Viles Electric Company in Muncie and eventually retired from the Maintenance Department of Ball Memorial Hospital in 1997. Bill had been a Licensed Electrician for 57 years. Mr. Conner was well known as a member of the Kings Ambassadors Quartet and had sung for many weddings, funerals, church choirs etc. He enjoyed doing yard work and had been an avid bowler for over 30 years going to National bowling events sponsored by the American Bowling Congress. Bill had been an active member of the American Legion Post #19 and the IBEW Local #855. He will be remembered for leading the family Christmas Carols at the Ball Memorial Hospital at Christmas time for many years.
Besides his wife of 59 years, Marilyn, he is survived by his daughter, Robin Blackwell (husband-Mike), Muncie; his son, William Kevin Conner (wife-Cheri), Savannah, Georgia; six grandchildren, Ryan, Stanley, Klint, Amy, Ashley and Josh; six great grandchildren, Caleb, Shelby, Peyton, Carlee, Zarah and Landon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015, 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Steve Conner officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie. Military honors will be rendered by the Delaware County Guard.
Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Saturday, May 23, 2015, from 11:00 A.M. until service time.
Memorial contributions may be made to Charity of the donor’s choice.
