He actively promoted Community Concerts Inc. and supervised March of Dimes and Christmas Seal campaigns. He was a church choir member and tenor soloist in Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas throughout his life. He also chaired many church commissions.
A career postal employee, he was assigned to the Omaha District Office in 1956 and then to Wichita, Kan., in 1958. At retirement he was Administrative Officer of the Oklahoma-Kansas-Nebraska Postal Region.
As a youth, he was Master Councillor, Nebraska State Chapter of DeMolay, and received the DeMolay Legion of Honor Degree. He was later a member of both York and Scottish Rites of Masonry. He served in the Navy during World War II as a Postal Instructor at Fleet Post Office headquarters in San Francisco. He served four years as Kansas Kiwanis District Treasurer.
