Robert Eugene "Bob" Allison, age 70, of Eddyville, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 30, 2013, at his home in Eddyville. Robert was born on April 5, 1943, in Monroe County, the son of Clarence Howard and Alpha Fay (Sefrit) Allison. Robert grew up around the Eddyville area and attended Eddyville High School. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army. He served from November of 1962 to November of 1963 in the infantry. After his service, Bob worked for the city of Eddyville and then the city of Oskaloosa before moving to Georgia. Bob lived in Georgia for 18 years working with his brother on a ranch training horses. Bob moved back to Eddyville in 2000. On April 15, 1966, Robert and Georgia Jean Behymer were united in marriage. Bob and Georgia shared 35 years of marriage and were blessed with four children: Shawn, Travis, Lisa, and Brandon. Georgia passed away on Sept. 10, 2001. On June 15, 2002, Robert and Elizabeth Ann (Jordan) Holliday were united in marriage. Bob and Elizabeth shared 11 years of marriage before Bob's passing. Bob enjoyed collecting and garage sales. He liked going to flea markets and fixing up antiques. Bob is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Holliday) Allison, of Eddyville; his children, Travis (Barbara) Allison, Lisa Smith, and Brandon (Christi) Allison, all of Barnsville, Ga.; three stepchildren, Debra (Jeff) Vanderwilt, of Oskaloosa, Pam (Earl) Behymer, of Eddyville, and Patty (Les) Veldhuizen, of Oskaloosa; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his brother, Kenneth (Shirley) Allison, of Oskaloosa; and four sisters, Evelyn Fisher, of Eddyville, Phyllis Rozeboom, of Eddyville, Betty (Richard) Van Loon, of Eddyville, and Wilma Jean (John) Williams, of Eddyville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Georgia; one son, Shawn Allison; and one brother, Bill Allison. Visitation for Bob will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1, at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel of Eddyville. Bob's family will be present Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, also at the Eddyville Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lois Williams and Pastor Dwayne Poe officiating. Burial will follow services at Pleasant Corners Cemetery of rural Eddyville. A memorial has been established to Iowa Hospice of Oskaloosa. The Eddyville Funeral Chapel is assisting Bob's family with services.
