Frances won a two-year scholarship to The Art Institute of Chicago, where her sister, Jeanne was a student.
Frances attended the Patricia Stevens School of Modeling and became a photographer's model. She modeled both clothing and jewelry. She also became an instructor of modeling at the same school.
Frances was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
With her husband, Alfred Carpenter West, she had one daughter, Elizabeth Carpenter West.
Frances lived in both Fort Lauderdale, Broward, Florida, and Palm Springs, Riverside, California after she left Chicago. She died in Palm Springs at the age of eighty-six years.
