Born December 7, 1982, in Charleston; he was the son of Larry and Mary Adkins.
Matthew was an avid outdoors and sportsman. He enjoyed kayaking, skiing, white water rafting, and participating in "Tough Mudder" as well as numerous marathons. Matthew enjoyed cheering on his favorite team, WV Mountaineers. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his two little "girlies." Matthew was a member of Sissonville Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his two grandfathers, Hubert Schnopp and Charles Wotring.
Matthew, a wonderful father, son, brother, and uncle, will be missed by his twin daughters, Aubrey Mikel Adkins and Kate Spencer Adkins of Lewisburg; parents, Larry and Mary Adkins; siblings, Erin M. McClanahan (Tim), Misty L. Daniels-Vaughan, and Michael A. Adkins; nieces and nephews, Kenny S. Ramella, Austin W. McClanahan, Ashley McClanahan, Morgan McClanahan, and Cody Daniels; grandparents, George and Gladys Adkins of Kingwood; grandmother, Doris Schnopp of Terra Alta; aunt and uncles, Penny DeWitt, Randy Wotring, and Barry Adkins; ex-wife, Erica Jo Adkins of Lewisburg; and many cousins and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, at Long & Fisher Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, at Long & Fisher Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Adkins officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
