David E. (Kelly) Gauthier, 67, of 2304-9th St., Two Rivers, retired Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., machinist and longtime instructor in string musical instruments, died Sunday morning at home. He had been in failing health for nearly five years.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Klein and Stangel Inc., Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. Paul W. Funk officiating. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery.
Mr. Gauthier was born April 4, 1899, at Two Rivers, son of the late Edward and Mathilda Barrett Gauthier. Attending public schools, he learned the machinist trade at an early age and for nearly 22 years up to his retirement because of ill health in 1962 he was employed at Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc. In his earlier years he was an orchestra leader in country western type of music and later was a guitar and banjo teacher. He was a member of Local No. 516, American Federation of Machinists.
Surviving are his wife, the former Wanda Petrashek, whom he married at Waukegan, Ill., July 26, 1922; two sons, Harvey and Leslie, at home; two sisters, Mrs. George Ney, of Two Rivers and Mrs. Dick Hydenrich, of Detroit, Mich., and three grandchildren.
A sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
