Former Rockford resident, A. J. Arnold, 87, died Monday morning,Jan. 5, 2009 in Crossville Medical Center, Crossville, TN. Born March 28, 1921 inMilwaukee, WI, the son of John and Blanche (Majchrzak) Kowalski. He was a WW IIveteran of the U.S. Navy and attained the rank of Lieutenant. A. J. was a graduate ofMilwaukee School of Engineering. He married the former Alice Salo in Milwaukee, andshe predeceased him Dec. 14, 1972. He was the former Vice President of the MotorsDivision at Barber Colman Corp. for many years, retiring in 1983. He spent the last 10years in Tennessee with his daughter Ellen and her family, and lived in Florida for the prior 15 years. Survivors include his 2daughters, Ellen J. (Richard) Catterall of Crossville, TN and Kathleen M. (John) Hill ofEdelstein, IL, 7 grandchildren, Charles Catterall, Kim Catterall, Katherine Catterall, JeffHill, Linda Fennel, James Hill, and Mary Ellen Schupbach, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2sisters, Evelyn Heun and Dorothy Eisenberg. Service 11:00 a.m., Friday, Jan. 9, 2009 in Sundberg Funeral Home, Ltd., 215 N. SixthSt., Rockford, IL. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery.
