Edward Brokaw, 63, a resident in and near Centerville since his birth, died of a lingering illness at his home at 718 East State street Sunday at 8:10 a. m. Sunday was his sixty-third birthday.

Mr. Brokaw who had been ill almost a year, although not critical until lately, was born on a farm west of here December 15, 1872. He was the son of Isaac and Elizabeth Brokaw. Excepting for a residence of eight years at Queen City, Mo., this city always has been his post office address.

On September 27, 1897, Mr. Brokaw was married at Creston. His wife, Mary, survives as do three children.

Church Member
He was a member of the Central Church of Christ and the Masonic lodge. Many friends bereave his passing.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Horne, Centerville, and Mrs. Grace Terrel, Charlton,one son. Hershel Brokaw at home, and two brothers, C. E. Brokaw, Waterloo, and W. H. Brokaw, Ten Sleep, Wyo. He is preceded in death by an infant son, one sister Mrs. Unice Butler, and one brother. Charles Brokaw.

Funeral services were held at the Beckner funeral home this afternoon at 3 o'clock, officiated by Rev. H. E. Trimble, pastor of the Central Church of Christ. Burial was in Oakland cemetery.
